Can you license your likeness from any country?
By Tim NaglePublished October 9, 2026
You can apply to HyperKnown from almost any country. Payouts currently go to people in the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia and Canada, and we are working to add more countries. If you live somewhere else, you can still build and verify your profile today. This guide explains why companies want people from everywhere, what you can do now, and what to watch out for.
Why do companies want people from my country?
Brands now use AI to adapt one advert for many markets. That works best when the person on screen looks like they belong in the place the advert runs. To do it properly, companies need real, verified people from many countries, with clear consent for each campaign.
Think of a phone brand launching the same campaign in Mumbai, Cairo and São Paulo. In the past it would either film a separate advert in each market or run one advert everywhere with the same faces. AI tools now let its team adapt one advert for each market: the language, the setting and the person on screen.
Audiences notice when the person in an advert does not fit. A familiar face makes an advert feel like it was made for the people watching it. That is why companies look for real people from many countries rather than one generic face, and why your look, your style and where you live can be exactly what a brief needs.
There is a second reason. A company using a real person's face in AI advertising needs proof that the person agreed to that use. A verified profile and a signed brief give it that proof. Read more in how AI ad localisation works.
What can I do now if I'm outside a payout country?
Everything except accept paid work. You can:
- Apply and build your profile. Add a recent, clear photo of your face in good light and tell companies where you are based.
- Sign the licensing agreement. Read the Creator Likeness and Platform Agreement first. It sets the rules every brief must follow.
- Verify your identity. Stripe Identity can check government-issued photo IDs from many countries, including India, Pakistan, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Ukraine and Brazil. If Stripe cannot check an ID from your country, you can use a passport from another country or ask HyperKnown for a manual review.
- Record your content limits. Note the kinds of content you will not appear in, so every future brief is checked against them before it reaches you.
Once HyperKnown has reviewed your profile, approved companies can find you and send you a brief. Until payouts reach your country, you cannot accept a paid project. A company can keep its request open, and it is not charged unless you accept.
Joining costs nothing wherever you live. HyperKnown never charges talent to join, verify or be listed.
How will I know when payouts open in my country?
The current payout countries are always listed on the For people page, and we will update this page when a new country is added. We cannot give a date yet.
We are working to add more countries, and we would rather not guess at timing. When payouts do reach your country, you add your bank details when you accept your first project, not before. HyperKnown will never ask you to pay anything to unlock payouts or to be considered sooner.
If you live in one of the four payout countries today, you see your exact fee on each brief before you accept. Fees vary by brief, and bookings are not guaranteed. For how payment works once a project is done, read how to get paid for your face.
Is there anything I should be careful of?
Yes. Because payouts are not yet available everywhere, some people may offer shortcuts. Do not take them.
- Never use another person's bank account. Whether you can be paid depends on where you live, as recorded in your own verified profile. Giving false country or payout details breaks the Terms of Service, and anyone offering to receive your fee for you is putting your money at risk.
- Never pay to be listed. HyperKnown never charges talent to join, verify or be listed. Anyone asking for a fee to list you, speed up a review or unlock payouts is not acting for HyperKnown.
- Never verify for someone else. Your profile is tied to your own identity. The agreement does not allow you to submit another person's identity, likeness or voice, and you must keep your login to yourself.
- Be wary of earnings promises. No one can tell you what you will earn before a company has sent you a brief.
If someone contacts you claiming to be from HyperKnown and asks you for money, report it through the safety page.
Are there countries that cannot apply?
Yes, a small number. People based in countries under international sanctions cannot list a profile. Today that covers Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Syria, Russia and Belarus. Everyone must also be 18 or over, and HyperKnown checks age during verification.
Wherever you are, the same rules apply to every brief. You see the campaign, the markets, the channels and how long the use lasts before you decide, and you can decline any brief. To understand those protections in more detail, read is it safe to license your face for AI. When you are ready, apply to the roster.
Frequently asked questions
Which countries can receive payouts?
Payouts are currently available in the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia and Canada. We are working to add more countries.
Can I use a friend's bank account?
No. Whether you can be paid depends on the country you live in, not where a bank account is, and giving false country or payout details breaks the Terms of Service.
Can companies send me briefs before payouts open in my country?
Yes, approved companies can find your profile and send you a brief. You cannot accept a paid project until payouts are available where you live, and the company is not charged unless you accept.
Does it cost anything to join from my country?
No. Joining, verifying and being listed are free, wherever you live.
What if Stripe cannot check my ID?
You can use a passport from another country if you have one, or ask HyperKnown for a manual review of your ID.
